Lençois Maranhense

The three sites represent one of the most special and enchanting destination of the northeast of Brazil. Know as the “Road of Emotions”. With all its areas of natural beauty in protected sites.

Delta of Parnaiba is formed by 85 islands and represents an area of 2,700 sq km between the State of PiauÍ and Maranhão, it is the only delta in the Americas, a rare phenomenon, similar to the Nile delta and the Mekong delta.

Lençois Maranhense is formed by the municipalities of Barreirinhas, Atins, Vassouras, Caburé and Farol de Mandacaru and are wonderful ecoturism and adventure tourism destinations.

Atins is a village located near the source of the river Preguiças. To reach it it is necessary to take a flat boat. Once there on land you need to travel a further 40 min between dunes and lagoons.

Barreirinhas is the entry point of this touristic region and main city to access the National Parc of Lencois Maranhenses. These consist of a remarkable and vast area of enormous white sand dunes, lakes and lagoons, also known as the Brazilian desert.
