JERICOACOARA

Jericoacoara is a wonderful and attractive fishing village with the good fortune to benefit from some 300 days of sunshine each year.
Jeri, as it is called by the locals, is surrounded by numerous fresh water lagoons and high sandunes of pristine white sand. It is one of the few places in Brazil where it is possible to see at the end of the day the sun go down slowly into the ocean, with the day’s last rays captures by the Ocean. Each evening one can admire a different sunset, a wonderful and
unforgettable spectacle.
The famous sunset dune (Duna Por-do-Sol): when one comes down the main street of the village is located to one’s left. It offers a panoramic view of the coast, the dunes and the village and of its nearby promontory (the Serrote). The beach of Jeri was named by the the Washington Post and by other magazines one of the world’s 10 most beautiful beaches, tank to its warm waters and spectacular dunes.

 
POUSADA CABANA: COME AND FEEL AT HOME

The Pousada Cabana is located some 50 m from the famous “Sunset Dune” (Duna do Por-do-Sol) and is set in a relaxing tropical garden of some 1,000 sqm.
Its location is ideal, it allows one to enjoy a peaceful environment, yet reach in a few minutes the sea and the endless beaches with warm waters.
The Pousada offers 10 bungalows, all with bathroom, flat screen TV, fridge-bar and modern split air conditioning and a sauna with small jacuzzi
pool; ideal to relax after a day at the beach. The bungalows are built with traditional materials and local woods and integrate perfectly with the local scene.
The Pousada also offers a 70 sqm apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large living-room.
Each morning a rich breakfast is served including numerous local fruits and pastries.

 
JERICOACOARA NATIONAL PARK

In 1984 Jericoacoara was included in a nature protection area and in 2002 was declared a National Park by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (IBAMA). The aim is to protect its out standing natural beauty: giant sand dunes, coconut groves, lagoons, mangrove areas and endless unspoilt beaches.

The National Park covers an area of 6,850 hectars and includes the area between the towns of Jijoca and Cruz. The beach of Preà is an other touristic spot near the Park. It is located some 12 km from the village of Jericoacoara and is perfect for the practice of kitesurf and windsurf. The National Park possess several attractions : Pedra Forada (a natural arch made by the wind) and the promontory of Serrote with its light house, are among the main features in the Park. Moreover in the Park it is possible to visit mangroves in whose warm waters the sea horses reproduce. The lagoons which are formed during the rainy season (April-May) are ideal for bathing and aquatic sports. The beaches near Jeri are also among the main attractions of the National Park. Some are more frequented by bathers, others more isolated for kitesurfing, windsurfing and surfing.
It is advisable to stay for at least 5 days, also because the trip of 300 km can be tiring. To reach Jeri it is necessary to go by 4x4 jeep or buggy. The last part of the journey between
Jijoca and Jeri is off-road.
